The Corona virus didn't even tell the game world!

Excluding spectators from the PSL, is this a good decision
The Corona virus didn't even tell the game world!

The biggest rivalry in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is undoubtedly that of Karachi and Lahore. When the matches were played between the Kings and Qalandars at the National Stadium in Karachi last night and at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore a few days ago, the world saw how unbearable it was to watch them play.

Then both matches were great, but the sad news is that with this match it was announced that all the next matches in PSL Season 5 will be played without spectators. The reason for this extreme decision is the global outbreak of the Corona virus, which has adversely affected the world game at that time.

The worldwide Corona virus-infected population is estimated at around 355,000, out of which 5,000 have died. Patients and mortality rates have seen a sudden increase since the beginning of March, and this is why serious measures are now being taken around the world.
Meanwhile, the Sindh government took some major steps, shutting down educational institutions on one side and giving premature 2-month holidays. It also announced that the last PSL matches in Karachi will be played with closed doors. That is, the spectators will not be allowed to come in.

Then the latest statement has been that instead of qualifiers and eliminators this time there will be semi-final matches so that the league can be completed as soon as possible. The semi-finals will be played on March 17 while the final will be played on March 18. Thus, the league will be completed on Wednesday, March 18, rather than Sunday, March 22. The truth is that these are extraordinary decisions and also show the government's time and the seriousness of the cricket administration in dealing with the Corona virus.

At the same time, there has been progress that the administration of the Pakistan Super League has told both foreign and local players that if they do not want to play matches, they are allowed to withdraw. With this announcement, a few foreign players have announced their return. The players include Alex Hales of Karachi, Riley Roche and James Vince of Multan Sultans, Tom Benton of Peshawar Zalmi, Carlos Braithwaite, Liam Dawson, Louis Gregory and Liam Livingston. Quetta Gladiators' Jason Rowe and Time Mills have also decided not to play any more matches in the PSL.

It should also be remembered that Pakistan Super League is not the only sports event infected with Corona virus. The sports world is currently undergoing such major decisions. Guess that UEFA Champions League, Spanish Football League La Liga, Italian Football League Serie A, the world's largest basketball league NBA, Ice Hockey League NHL and American Football League Major League Soccer. Large events, such as the LS, have been completely or partially canceled or postponed. And that's not all because the sports world is in the ruthless claws of the Corona virus right now.

Arsenal head coach Michael Arrieta of the English Premier League has fallen victim to the Corona virus, while a Utah Jazz player in the US NBA has had a positive Corona virus test. The players on both teams have moved to Quarantina.

Then the Formula One Australia Grand Prix has been canceled while the Bahrain Grand Prix, which starts March 22, will have no spectators. In addition, the Chinese Grand Prix, which begins April 19, has also been suspended.

Now the danger has also arisen that the biggest sporting event of the year, the Olympics 2020, may not be canceled. The torch ride for the Tokyo Olympics beginning July 24 has begun in Olympia, Greece, but spectators' participation in the event was also forbidden. US President Donald Trump has already proposed delaying the Olympics for one year.

The Corona virus may also be wrapping up other major cricketing events after the PSL, as the Indian Premier League (IPL), which starts on March 29, has been postponed till April 15. Delhi government has banned all sports events including IPL, meaning that no match will be played in Delhi. That is why it is now being seriously considered that the IPL match should be played without spectators or it will be postponed for some time, the next few days will be very important.
Looking at the whole scenario, banning the spectators from the Pakistan Super League is a good decision. This can help prevent a disease that can spread to another person even when touched.

However, the real beauty of cricket was the spectacle in this season of PSL because for the first time the Super League was playing in full swing in Pakistan and we did not have to watch the disappointing scenes of empty fields like every year in the United Arab Emirates. Were common. On the contrary, this time spectators filled every field from Karachi to Multan and Lahore to Rawalpindi. Now at a stage that has the most interest, it is sad to make such a decision suddenly, but it was also inevitable.

Corona virus outbreak is adversely affecting the world's richest and healthiest countries, so what can it do to a country like Pakistan? It can only be imagined. Therefore, it is very welcome to make such a decision of the Sindh Government under the memorandum and the federal government should follow it as well.
