Corona Virus Risk: 10 Foreign Players Withdraw From PSL
As many as 14 foreign players and a coach have immediately withdrawn from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) following the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) offer after the Corona virus cases surfaced in Pakistan, around the world. ۔A spokesman for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that foreign players have been given options by the board that they can withdraw from the tournament if they wish.

According to reports, PCB officials met with foreign players and briefed them about the spread of Corona virus worldwide, the precautionary measures and measures taken in this regard.
The PCB, however, said that the PSL was on schedule and today's match is also being held.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that 14 foreign players have so far announced not to participate in the matches of the Pakistan Super League and their names are listed below.

Under the rules of the league, all teams will be allowed to include players in their respective teams, which will be approved by the event's technical committee.

The Pakistan Cricket Board said that they would continue to review the situation and make appropriate decisions after consulting the team owners.

So far, no player has tested positive for the Corona virus and at present there is no discussion of the series against Pakistan Cup and Bangladesh.

Waseem Khan, chief executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board, says the situation is constantly changing in the current situation which needs to be monitored constantly.

He said that today PCB and all team owners have realized their responsibility and allowed all players to leave the league voluntarily as the confidence and belief of the players is the most important for the PCB.


The chief executive PCB added that they want to make it clear that currently 10 players and a coach have decided to leave the league because they have to suspend flight operations or close the borders of their countries in the future. There is danger.

Wasim Khan said that PCB will ensure safe return of all these players, same protocol will be adopted for other players and support staff.

He said that the PCB, as in the past, will continue to monitor the situation and will not hesitate to make any decision regarding the safety and health of the event participants.

It should be noted that the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League began on February 20 at the National Stadium in Karachi.

A day earlier, the Sindh government had announced that matches to be played at the National Stadium in Karachi without fans because of the danger of spreading the Corona virus.

It is also to be noted that 21 cases of the virus have been reported in Pakistan so far, with a maximum of 15 cases belonging to the provincial capital Karachi.

Last year, the outbreak of the Chinese city of Wuhan reached 119 countries in the world, and so far, the virus has lost 4,700 lives and affected more than 30,000 people.
Due to such rapid spread of the virus, it has been declared a global outbreak by the World Health Organization.


In addition, several countries around the world have taken extraordinary steps to prevent its spread, including the closure of travel restrictions, educational institutions, and even lockdown cities.

The global economy, on the other hand, has also been badly affected by the virus, and major stock markets around the world are also in crisis due to the effects and uncertainty of the virus.
