In the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the Multan Sultans defeated Islamabad United by 9 wickets in a rain-affected match, and made it to the play-off stage.In the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League, Multan Sultans, who were ranked first on the points table, decided to bowl first by winning the toss against Islamabad United.


Rawalpindi was delayed due to rain as the field and outfield were wet and the match was restricted to 9 overs per innings.
Islamabad United started the batting when Luke Ronak and Colin Monroe provided the team with 26 runs, the runners looked in good form but after 18 runs a controversial catch ended their innings.
Colin Munro hit Shahid Afridi for three consecutive sixes, after which it seemed that United's team would easily be able to score 100 runs, but with Monroe's dismissal, the Sultans returned to the match with a fine bowling.


Monroe were dismissed after scoring 25 runs, after which Ingram also managed only six runs, while his form Shadab also returned to the pavilion by 14 runs.


In the last over, Sultanz's bowlers did a fine bowling which allowed United to open the batting of United and only managed 91 runs in the last 9 overs for a loss of 7 wickets.

From Multan Sultans, Junaid Khan and Imran Tahir took two wickets each.

In pursuit of the target, Multan Sultan's openers James Vince and Zeeshan Ashraf gave the team a one-run start with 68 runs in 5 overs.

Zeeshan Ashraf made it to Shadab Khan's ball after scoring 16 runs.

However, the Multan Sultans then won the first 14 balls without any further loss, earning valuable points and making it to the play-off stage.

James Vince showed excellent batting, scoring 61 off 24 balls with 11 fours and a six.

After losing this match, Islamabad United's chances of reaching the playoffs have further diminished.

In a match between the two teams earlier this year, Islamabad United easily defeated the Sultans by 8 wickets.
