Rawalpindi Test: Bangladesh
defeat by one innings and forty runs
In the first Test match
between Pakistan and Bangladesh national cricket teams played in Rawalpindi,
the guest team suffered a major defeat. Pakistan beat Bangladesh by an innings
and forty runs on the fourth day of the match.
In the first match of
the current Test series between the two countries, Bangladesh needed 86 runs in
the first match of the day to avoid an innings defeat and had only four
wickets. But within an hour and a half before the session on Monday, February
10, the guest team was outscored by only 168 runs in their second innings.
In the innings, leg-spinner Yasir Shah took four wickets for 58 runs, while
fast bowler Shaheen Afridi struck out 39 off a single. In the first over of the
day, Afridi lbwed Bangladesh captain and then-batsman Mominul Haq at the crease
with a personal score of 41.
The 16-year-old bowler Naseem Shah did not score a single over from Pakistan on
the fourth day of the match.
He became the youngest bowler to hit a hat-trick in Test cricket history on
Sunday, the third day of the match. But shortly after this hat-trick, his ribs
began to ache and he left the field. Naseem Shah took four wickets for 26 runs
in the second innings of Bangladesh.

During the second innings of Bangladesh on Monday, Yasir Shah took the last two
wickets in two consecutive overs, during which he dismissed Luton Das for 29
and Abu Zaid for three runs.
Pakistan is now fourth in the World Test Championship
With their victory in this Test match, Pakistan is now ranked fourth in the ICC World Test Championship Rankings with 140 points. India is currently ranked first with 360 points, Australia with 296 points and England third with 146 points.
The Bangladesh team will now return to Pakistan in April to play the second Test of the current series. Then the guest team will also play a one-day international match in Karachi, which will be the only one-day international match between the two countries.
Last month, Bangladesh's national cricket team agreed to split its tour of Pakistan into three stages based on security concerns. In the first leg of the tour, the Bangladesh team lost two T20 matches in Lahore.
